Narendra Modi offers Narayana Murthy a job in Gujarat
Ahmedabad: Infosys founder Narayana Murthy met Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today in Ahmedabad. Mr Modi has asked Mr Murthy to head what he describes as "an incubation centre for future entrepreneurs."

Mr Murthy will retire  on August 20 as Chairman of Infosys.

"The chairman of a world-class IT company has reacted positively to the Gujarat government's offer to head a world class Centre for the Youths proposed to come up in the state," an official statement from the Chief Minister's office said.

The same statement quoted Mr Murthy as responding, "I will be happy to be linked with this ambitious project, but how much time I will be able to devote towards it is to be seen and I shall discuss with the government later on."

Infosys has  in the past expressed interest in opening an IT centre in Gujarat. "We are yet to get land, once the Gujarat government takes a decision and I am sure that they will, we would look at the possibility of starting a centre here,"  Mr Murthy said yesterday.

The Infocity set up by the Gujarat government in Gandhinagar has not taken off.  With his state lauded for development in other industries, the Chief Minister has been keen to create an aggressive and advanced hub for IT.
