Mumbai Police learn new lessons after 26/11
Mumbai: In a post 26/11 world, the Mumbai Police is learning new lessons. After much criticism for being ill prepared and under equipped during 26/11, the Mumbai Police has not just been arming itself but is also busy training its officers on how to respond to a terror situation - specially new challenges that may be thrown their way in the form of human bombs.

Beat officers from various city police stations are being taught how to deal with a human bomb.

"It's local police officers who are the first responders to an attack. They need to know how to deal with the situation. How to search, how to frisk, et cetera. So hence people who man police stations are being trained," said Ritesh Kumar, Additional Commissioner, Mumbai Police.

Training them are experts from the Intelligence Bureau and bomb disposal squad.

The training is part of the Mumbai Police's effort to bring the force up to date with technology used by terror groups like the LeT.

"In the past six days we have trained 1,500 officers and in the coming days more officers will be trained," said Ritesh Kumar.

And Mumbai, it seems, will be happy to hear that.
