Missing file on faulty jackets: Notice to 8 Mumbai cops
Mumbai: Notices have been served by the state home department to 8 policemen including ex Police Commissioner DN Jadhav in the matter of missing file of bullet proof jackets purchased by the Mumbai police.

The officers have to file their reply by January 4.

The file which went missing pertains to the purchase of bulletproof jackets in 2007. The Anti-Corruption Bureau had found them to be sub-standard.

The file was said to be missing following a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by social activist Santosh Daundkar alleging irregularity in the purchase of substandard bulletproof vests for the police.

The bulletproof jacket that Anti-Terrorist Squad chief Hemant Karkare had been wearing on the night of 26/11 when he was killed by terrorists is alleged to have been one of these sub-standard jackets.
