Kolkata: Stating that her government would follow the Supreme Court order cancelling the Singur land acquisition "line by line", West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said that the state would compensate 800 farmers and also distribute 9,117 land records today.

"We will complete the land survey for about 620 acres in the project area by tomorrow (Tuesday). We are ready with 800 cheques to be handed over to farmers on Wednesday. About 9,117 land records will also be distributed to them," Ms Banerjee said after holding a high level meeting at the state secretariat Nabanna.

Ms Banerjee would visit Singur on Wednesday and also hold a public meeting.

Following the verdict, the state government had been carrying out the land survey within the project area expeditiously.

It had been taking the help of drone and GPS satellite mapping for aerial survey and expects to complete it within ten weeks.

Asked about the demolition of the factory shades and administrative offices of Tata Motors at the abandoned project site, Ms Banerjee said, "We are following the verdict of the Supreme Court. We expect they will shift their materials. We will request them. If they don't or request us to shift the materials, the state government will set aside the same."

Ms Banerjee said the state agriculture department would provide a package to farmers to make land cultivable.

After the Supreme Court quashed the land acquisition done by the erstwhile Left Front government, Ms Banerjee had chaired a high level emergency meeting at Nabanna to decide on follow-up action for implementing the judicial order.

She had also said physical possession of cultivable land would be given to the landowners within the stipulated time frame of 12 weeks.
