Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the much-awaited Hyderabad Metro today at the Miyapur station.
The commercial operations for the 30-km-long first phase of the
metro rail project between Miyapur and Nagole, having 24 stations, will start on Wednesday. After the launch, PM Modi travelled by the metro from Miyapur to Kukatpally along with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, and they will return to the Miyapur station, PTI reported.
Initially, the trains would run from 6 am to 10 pm and the timings would be rescheduled to 5.30 am to 11 pm, depending on the traffic and demand, Telangana's Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao was quoted as saying by PTI.

A review was conducted by officials concerned on Monday ahead of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project launch, Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao, tweeted.
According to Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao, Hyderabad Metro would be first in India to use an advanced Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) technology. "The trains running on three corridors will be controlled and monitored from state-of-the-art Operation Control Centre (OCC) at Uppal," Mr Rao tweeted.

The launch of Hyderabad Metro rail project coincides with Ivanka Trump's visit to the city. Ms Trump, who is a fashion designer and advisor to her father, US President Donald Trump, is in the city to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit co-hosted by India and the US.
A mobile app named 'T Savari' will be launched for the passengers. The authorities concerned also plan to build sky-walks connecting the stations directly to commercial complexes, stadiums and offices, according to PTI.
The Hyderabad Metro Rail Project started in July 2012 and it was scheduled to be completed by June this year, however, issues like land acquisition led to delays.
The Hyderabad Metro project has been divided into three corridors. The trains will run from Miyapur in north Hyderabad to Ameerpet - a connecting station - on corridor one, and from there to Nagole in the eastern side of the city, which is part of Corridor 2.
