Imphal:
A 21-year-old student was shot dead in Imphal on Sunday evening allegedly by the son of a Manipur minister, police said today.
Irom Roger was shot dead by 27-year-old Ajay Meitei, son of Manipur Minister for Irrigation, Flood Control and Sports, N Biren Singh, at Kwakeithel area of Imphal West district, they said.
Meitei reportedly chased Roger in a vehicle and then shot him from a M-20 pistol, they said, adding that he later surrendered to police with his pistol.
Police suspect personal enmity led to the killing.
Today, hundreds of people from Roger's locality went to the Chief Minister's residence and submitted a memorandum demanding immediate action against the killer.
Additional security has been deployed at the residence of N Biren Singh as people from Roger's locality are planning a march to his residence, police said.
