Imphal blast: death toll rises to nine, four critically injured

Imphal: One more person succumbed to his injuries, bringing the death toll to nine in a high-intensity blast that ripped through Imphal yesterday evening. At least four people are critically injured.  

The blast happened at 7:30 pm in the Nagampal area that is next to a busy market. Eight non-Manipuri labourers involved in the construction of a drain in the area were killed on the spot yesterday.

The police has said the blast appears to have been triggered through a planted device.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast so far.
