Highlights: Those who accused of being corrupt, are steeped in corruption, says Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi addressed the Congress mega rally at the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi today. Here are the highlights of Mrs Gandhi's speech:

• I am extremely happy to see you at Ramlila maidan
• I get new energy after seeing supporters like you
• Congress party has been there for the common & poor people
• Congress party fought for the independence of our country
• The Congress party is a secular party
  
• Nobody can compete with us on the secular front
• Congress is confident that we will do well in elections
• There are allegations against the Congress party, but you gave us vote of confidence in 2002 and 2009. Few parties have not been able to digest this
• Important bills and discussions are avoided by opposition parties
• They want to weaken our democracy
• We won't allow them to do this
• Congress is a party which has always protected the constitution
• The Opposition has stalled Parliament repeatedly, they have run away from debate
• They are mired in corruption charges themselves; that is why they are making false allegations
• They lecture  us on corruption but are corrupt themselves
• Jo durse ke liye gaddha khodta hai, uske liye kuan tayyar rehta hai (Those who dig a hole for others, have a well prepared for themselves)
• We wanted to introduce Lokpal Bill we were not allowed to
• Under the leadership of PM, we have done well
• We face the challenge of employment because of the sheer numbers
• I know that inflation has it the common man. The problem is that the oil prices have quadrupled in in international markets - we import 80% of our requirements
• We have not increased the prices of food grains under the Public Distribution System
• We are also planning on a bill that will guarantee food security
• We will give our opponents a fitting reply
