Heavy Rains, Snowfall Likely In Himachal Pradesh Over Next 2 Days

Shimla: Heavy rains or snowfall may occur at isolated places in mid and higher hills of Himachal Pradesh during next two days in spite of marginal rise in maximum day temperatures across the state on Thursday.

The local MeT office also predicted rains/thundershowers at isolated places in lower hills over next three days.

The maximum temperatures which stayed three to five degree above normal yesterday, rose marginally and Una in Shivalik foothills recorded a high of 29.8 deg, 6.2 degrees above normal.

Even in state capital Shimla the maximum temperature rose by one degree from 19.2 yesterday to 20.4 degree on Thursday, in spite of clouded sky and strong winds sweeping the region.

Sundernagar, Solan, Nahan and Bhuntar recorded maximum temperatures at 27.9 degree, 26.5 degree, 26 degrees, 25.2 deg, while Dharamsala recorded a high of 18.8 degrees, followed by Manali 17.6 deg and Kalpa 15.6 degrees C.

Keylong was the coldest in the region with minimum temperature at minus 6.5 degree, while Manali and Kalpa recorded a low of zero degree and 1.0 degree, followed by Bhuntar 3.4 degree and Sundernagar 5.2 degree.

Nahan was hottest in the region during the night with a low of 12.1 degrees while Dharamsala recorded minimum temperature at 7.8 deg followed by Shimla and Una 8.2 deg C.

The state received 39.4 mm rains from January 1 to February 18, against normal rainfall of 148.8 mm, a deficit of 74 per cent.
