The Congress on Wednesday announced its second list of nine candidates and one replacement for the West Bengal Assembly polls, taking the total number of candidates declared by the party to 293.
The Congress, which is going solo in the polls to the 294-member Assembly, named Prem Chowdhury in place of Sanjay Sarkar from the Gazole (SC) constituency.
The party fielded Mrinmoy Sarkar from Alipurduars, Guddi Riaz from Islampur, Md. Mahatab from Farakka, Monoj Chakraborty from Sagardighi, Mohd. Saharuddin Seikh from Beldanga, Quazi Abdur Rahim from Baduria, Angshuman Roy from Ashoknagar, Subhankar Sarkar from Sreerampur and Pranab Kumar Mahapatra from Patashpur.
Rahim is a sitting MLA from Baduria who recently joined the Congress after being denied a ticket by the TMC.
The Congress on Sunday had announced the names of 284 candidates in one go.
The West Bengal Assembly elections are being held in two phases on April 23 and 29. The votes will be counted on May 4.
