Congress does better even in Gujarat
Ahmedabad:

BJP in Gujarat, led by Chief Minister Narendra Modi, which was expecting to win around 20 out of 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state, has suffered by winning only 15 seats, while Congress has surprisingly fared better and won 10 seats.

Result for Kheda constituency is yet to be declared due to some technical problem in one EVM.

Statistically speaking, BJP has wrested five seats from Congress: Chhota Udeipur, Mehsana, Amreli, Junagadh and Sabarkantha while it has retained six seats: Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Baroda, Bharuch and Panchmahal.

On the other side, Congress has wrested four seats from BJP: Rajkot, Surendranagar, Patan and Porbandar while it has retained five seats held by the party: Banaskantha, Jamnagar, Anand, Bardoli and Valsad.

Out of nine sitting MLAs, who were in the fray, five including Mukesh Gadhvi of Congress from Banaskantha, Jagdish Thakor of Congress from Patan, Dinu Solanki of BJP from Junagadh, Vithal Radadia of Congress from Porbandar and Kuvarji Bavalia of Congress from Rajkot, could make it to the Parliamnent.

Congress had won 12 seats in 2004 Lok Sabha elections while BJP had won 15 seats.
