Bodo militants trigger blast targeting goods train

Guwahati: Suspected Bodo militants on Wednesday night set off a powerful explosion targeting a goods train carrying foodgrains near Udalguri in Assam, derailing ten rakes and the engine and leaving the driver injured.

The militants belonging to Ranjan Daimary faction of Bodo outfit, which is opposed to peace talks with government, triggered the blast at a place between Udalguri and Harisinga, at around 2210 hours, a spokesman of North Frontier Railway said.

The train was going from Rangiya in Kamrup rural district to North Lakhimpur.

The blast also damaged some portions of the rail track.
