Clashes erupted between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress supporters just ahead of the visit of West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh in North 24 Parganas on Saturday afternoon.
Mr Ghosh was visiting Bhola near Sodepore, around 15km from Kolkata.
The police rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. The cops also resorted to lathi-charge to stop the agitated supporters of the political parties from fanning violence in the region.
