Bihar Assembly Adjourned Sine Die
Patna: The Bihar Legislative Assembly was today adjourned sine die after over a month-long stormy budget session which was marred by frequent confrontations between the ruling JD(U) and the opposition BJP lawmakers over a host of issues.

Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary adjourned the House sine after taking up the private members resolution in the post-lunch session of the final day of the Budget Session during which 22 sittings were held since July 28 last.

The Legislative Assembly passed the state government's budget to the tune of Rs 1.17 lakh crore for the current fiscal and also passed six bills.

The bills passed by the House were Bihar Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2014; Bihar State Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2014; Bihar Medical Service and Public Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2014; Bihar Appropriation (No.3) Bill, 2014, Bihar Technical Staff Selection Commission Bill, 2014 and Bihar Finance Bill, 2014.

The Assembly also discussed public issues like the drought-like situation in Bihar and lifting of foodgrains by the state government for distribution through PDS to the beneficiaries under the Food Security Act even as the Treasury and Opposition benches had spats over spiraling crime and deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

The House witnessed pandemonium with the Opposition BJP MLAs trooping in the Well at regular intervals to highlight public issues even as the ruling JD(U) MLAs defied tradition in indulging in a similar act to protest Haryana BJP leader O P Dhankad's remarks advocating marriage of Bihar girls with boys of his state, a comment that the ruling party members deemed as an insult to the women-folk of the state.
