New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal was re-elected as the National Convenor of his Aam Aadmi Party today. The party also effected a major overhaul of its Political Affairs Committee or PAC, the highest decision making body, inducting five new faces including a woman.

The selection of the National Executive was conducted earlier in the day. The restructured 25-member body has several names from Punjab, which is going to polls in 2017.

This was the first rejig of the PAC after expulsion of Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan last year.

The six new faces include Ashutosh, Durgesh Pathak, Raghav Chadha, legislator from Okhla Amanatullah Khan and Punjab lawmaker Sadhu Singh; Atishi Marlena is the lone woman member in the committee.

Those retained include Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai, Sanjay Singh, Kumar Vishwas and Pankaj Gupta. Ilyas Azmi and Mayank Gandhi, who were considered close to Yogendra Yadav, have not found a place in the national executive and therefore, the PAC. All PAC members must belong to the National Executive.

"Arvind Kejriwal was unanimously elected as the new National Convenor of the party. The National Executive also chose Pankaj Gupta as National Secretary and Raghav Chadha as the National Treasurer," said party spokesperson Pankaj Bajpai.

Last year's meeting of the AAP National Council had witnessed the removal of Mr Yadav and Mr Bhushan amid much turmoil.
