Amit Shah Visits RSS Man Injured In Clash With CPM Ahead Of Kerala Polls

Addressing the media, Amit Shah said, "Those who lecture to us about tolerance are the very ones taking the route of violence in Bengal and Kerala against the BJP. But this is not going to work".

Thiruvananthapuram: While the BJP's final list of candidates contesting the upcoming assembly elections is not yet out, party chief Amit Shah flew to Thiruvananthapuram to meet the RSS pracharak (full time worker) Amal Krishna, who was hospitalised after being  seriously injured in a BJP-CPM clash two weeks ago.

Addressing the media, Mr Shah said, "Those who lecture to us about tolerance are the very ones taking the route of violence in Bengal and Kerala against the BJP. But this is not going to work".

"I appeal to people of Kerala that violence can't be stopped by the Congress and CPM governments, who perpetuate it. They have to give the BJP a majority in this assembly elections," he said.

In what is being seen as a first triangular contest for assembly elections in Kerala, the BJP which has not had any legislators till now, is expected to field a series of celebrities and carefully picked contestants, with the aim of opening its account in Kerala. The party has also allied with SNDP, an umbrella organisation of powerful Ezhava community and a backward caste in Kerala.

The BJP alleges that the CPM has been targeting its party workers because the Left is scared of BJP's growing influence. On the other hand, the CPM has alleged that BJP is pursuing an agenda of provocative politics and spreading violence, to create chaos within the state.
