Can VCD players classified as class 1 laser products cause cancer? I am asking this because in the catalogue of one such product it is mentioned, and I quote "Laser component in this product is capable of emitting radiation exceeding the limit for Class 1. I have similar doubts about mobile phones.

It is extremely unlikely that VCD players would cause cancer. However, apart from tobacco and a few chemicals that are widely available, we do not know what manufactured articles in every day life could be contributing to the cancer epidemic. We need to find out the basic causes of cells becoming cancers and we need better treatment. Eliminating or avoiding common articles that offer a better life is not the answer.
