Can my father undergo knee replacement surgery?
Question
My 66 years old father is suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and we are planning for a knee replacement surgery for him because he cannot even stand with support. He has too much pain in his knees, which are always swollen. Can he go for a knee replacement surgery? If yes, please suggest some good knee replacement hospitals. What is the expected cost for the same?

Getting knee replacement seems to be the right decision. It is possible to do it in rheumatoid patients, but his rheumatoid has to be under control by a rheumatologist, before surgery is undertaken. Good hospitals are in Delhi and Mumbai. The approximate cost of these operations could be as high as 2 lakhs for one knee.
