New Delhi:

There has not been a bigger women-centric release in recent times than Priyanka Chopra's Mary Kom which releases today. The biopic of Olympic medal winning boxer M C Mary Kom has generated buzz which can be compared to the likes of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and the potentially 100 crore blockbusters.

The film will see Priyanka follow the trajectory of Mary's life, tracing ups and downs on both personal and professional fronts. The film will show a young Mary fighting against the society opposition and numerous other odds as she tries to gain access to the boxing ring and start training. From there, the movie will showcase her first run in the ring as she rises to the top and then quits to settle down into family life. But a fighter's spirit can't be held back and she returns to once again reach the pinnacle of her boxing world. Priyanka Chopra, who has played difficult characters in films like Barfi! and Saat Khoon Maaf, has confessed that Mary Kom has been her most challenging role yet.

The trailers and previews of the film have most cine-goers praising Priyanka's performance and the movie's impact.

In the absence of a second Bollywood film in the ring with Mary Kom, Hollywood is trying its luck with two films. First off, we have Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For which is hitting the Indian shores two weeks after it's American release. The film has received average reviews and Eva Green's much talked about 'almost nude' scenes may have not made it through the Indian censor's scissors. (Read Review: Sin City: A Dame To Kill For)

The second Hollywood offering is If I Stay which features Chloe Grace Moretz, Mireille Enos and Liana Liberato among others. The film has been rated high by the critics but seems to have generated almost no buzz in India.
