Sunny Friday: Jism 2 releases today

Highlights

  • After the controversies, the film itself. Jism 2 directed by Pooja Bhatt and starring Sunny Leone, Arunoday Singh and Randeep Hooda, releases today amid a flurry headlines, the latest of which is the BMC ordered removal of the film’s posters from buses and electric poles in Mumbai.
  • The offending poster, which shows the reclining nude female figure covered by a thin sheet of fabric, also appears to have been copied from a 2010 poster for a Goan fashion show by designer Felix Bendish. It doesn’t end there. The female figure on the poster is possibly not Sunny Leone but model turned item girl Nathalia Kaur.
  • Jism 2 title track has also been accused of being a copy of a Turkish song. There’ve been protests against the film in Amritsar where an effigy of Sunny was burnt. And there’s been a PIL filed in the Allahabad High Court seeking a stay order against the film and objecting to Sunny presence in it.
  • So it’s with a litany of woes that Sunny Leone, adult film actress, makes her big Bollywood debut playing, no surprises here, an adult film actress.
  • Giving Sunny and gang competition, of a sort, will be romance-drama Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai and rom-com From Sydney With Love, both featuring a cast of new faces, and animated children’s film Krishna Aur Kans. Hollywood’s offering will be a remake of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Total Recall starring Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel.
