Besides Shahid, Udta Punjab also co-stars Kareena Kapoor as a doctor. Actress Alia Bhatt and Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanjh also feature in key roles.

Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, the film, which is based on the issue of drug trafficking in Punjab, opens on June 17.
