London: Black Swan star Mila Kunis, who recently broke up with longtime boyfriend Macaulay Culkin, doesn't think that a successful career equals happiness in one's personal life.

The 27-year-old actress won rave reviews for her performance as a ballerina opposite Natalie Portman in the Darren Aronofsky directed Black Swan which has generated lots of Oscar buzz. Kunis insists she can separate her personal life from her professional one and refuses to let the opinions of critics and Hollywood bosses determine who she is, reported Contactmusic.

"I've survived in this industry because I made a conscious decision that my career was going to be not who I am but what I do. I detach myself from it on a daily basis and have done my entire life. The problem with anything to do with entertainment - acting, dancing - if your happiness is based on what you do, you're doomed to failure," said Kunis.

"I think I would go crazy if all my life and all my happiness were dependent upon acting because the problem with this industry is that it's all a matter of opinion. Someone might think I'm a great actress, someone else might think I suck, neither is wrong, it's just a matter of opinion. So if I gauge my happiness on another person's opinion? I'd want to kill myself," she added.

The actress hit big time with her role as flaky Jackie Burkhart on hit sitcom That 70s Show. Black Swan has brought her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She dated Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin for 8 years before calling it quits earlier this year.
