Man Of Steel going strong at US box office

Man Of Steel going strong at US box office
English actor Henry Cavill plays the iconic superhero in the Superman reboot.
Los Angeles: Zack Snyder directed Man Of Steel is hovering just above expectations with a first day (June 14, 2013) collection of $44.1 million in the US and it is being estimated that the initial weekend collection will be around $115 million.

According to variety.com, the weekend collection was estimated at more than the $80 million to $100 million that Warner Bros and other studios predicted by last Thursday (jUNE 13, 2013), but less than what a late Friday achieved with $125 million in collections.

Man Of Steel, from Legendary Pictures, Syncopy and DC Entertainment, earned nearly half of its initial day collection before its wide release through midnight screenings that earned $21 million alone. $12 million of the amount came from a special early screening deal through Walmart.

It's a strong start for Man Of Steel that stars Henry Cavill as the Superman. The movie opens day-and-date in 24 markets, but it's not likely to recoup its $225 million budget in its opening frame.

The film's cast also features the likes of Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner and Amy Adams.
