New Delhi: Lipstick Under My Burkha, which released on July 21 across 400 screens, has managed to collect Rs 8.44 crores at the box office so far, reported trade analyst Taran Adarsh. The film, which stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur, earned a total of Rs 1.36 crore on Tuesday, higher than its collection on the opening day. "#LipstickUnderMyBurkha is UNSTOPPABLE... Tue biz is HIGHER than Mon and Fri biz," tweeted Mr Adarsh. Lipstick Under My Burkha received a lukewarm response on day one and managed to earn a total of Rs. 1.22 crores. On Saturday and Sunday, the film made Rs. 2.17 crores and Rs. 2.41 crores respectively.

Lipstick Under My Burkha had a 'super-strong' Monday and managed to collect a total of Rs 1.28 crore, a sum higher than its opening day, reported Mr Adarsh.

Lipstick Under My Burkha is a story of four small town women, who rebel against the prejudices of the society in their own ways. The film has been produced by Prakash Jha.

Ahead of its release, Lipstick Under My Burkha faced an objection from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for its abusive content and audio pornography.

Film critic Saibal Chatterjee, in his review for NDTV, said that Lipstick Under My Burkha is a 'bold, brassy and colourful drama that redefines the female gaze.'

"The actors turn in brilliant performances, giving the film an added edge," Saibal Chatterjee added.

Lipstick Under My Burkha clashed at the box office with Tiger Shroff's Munna Michael and Hollywood film Dunkirk.
