Hilary Swank Turns Director With Film On Cancer Prevention

"We looked at so many wonderful women and theirstories. They are just extraordinary. And we follow themaround and we talk about the things you can do to preventcancer," said the double Oscar winning actress.

Swank, who won the coveted best actress trophy forBoys Don't Cry and Million Dollar Baby, said that creatingawareness about cancer prevention is important.

"It's challenging because you don;t really know whatyou can do to prevent it but we do know that eating well,exercising, getting screened and not smoking helps. And whenyou hear the statistics that one in three women will bediagnosed (with cancer) in their lifetime, I mean that issignificant," said the actress.

The project is very near and dear to Swank as her owngrandmother died of the disease.

"My grandmother died of breast cancer, and my aunt hadit too. Cancer is very prevalent in my family. It's close tohome for me. I think it is for most people. Everyone istouched by it somehow," Swank added.

The documentary, which is backed by Swank's productioncompany 2S Films, is set to debut online next month.
