New Delhi: Sanjay Dutt's new film Bhoomi opened to poor reviews last Friday. The Omung Kumar-directed film has so far earned Rs 8.46 crore at the box office, reports Box Office India. Bhoomi is Sanjay Dutt's comeback film and stars actress Aditi Rao Hydari. Box Office India reports that Bhoomi earned Rs 85 lakh on Tuesday while over the weekend, the film had made a business of over Rs 5 crore. Taran Adarsh earlier described Bhoomi as a 'fiasco.' The film went on floors earlier this year and Sanjay Dutt, 58, wrapped the shooting soon. Bhoomi is Sanjay Dutt's first film after he completed his five-year jail term in connection to the 1993 Mumbai blasts.

Here's what Mr Adarsh previously tweeted.

Bhoomi, a revenge drama, features Sanjay Dutt as a father while actress Aditi Rao Hydari plays his daughter. Bhoomi also casts Sidhant Gupta and Sharad Kelkar in pivotal roles.

In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave the film one star out of five. Bhoomi is a bad enough film to merit summary banishment. Sickeningly prurient, it goes off the rails at the very outset never to regain any semblance of sanity. It is loud, violent, exploitative and completely hollow in its posturing against rapists. Even if you are in the mood to support Sanjay Dutt's 'comeback' film, Bhoomi is best given a wide berth. The actor definitely deserved better than this mangled mess of a movie," he wrote.

Bhoomi released along with Rajkummar Rao's Newton, which has been selected as India's official entry for the Oscars and Shraddha Kapoor's Haseena Parkar.
