American Documentary Festival From Thursday

  • Giving Kolkatans a flavour of the US culture, philosophy and values, a six-day American documentary film festival will be held in the city from this Thursday.
  • Renowned American documentary film maker Tom Shepherd and the reputed Documentary magazine's editor Tom White will inaugurate the fest, the US Consulate General office said today. The screenings would take place at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC) and the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI).
  • A total of ten topical and award-winning American docus including Inside Job, How to Hold a Flag, New Muslim Cool, No Subtitles Needed, Soundtrack for a Revolution, and Whiz Kids will be shown. Apart from the screenings, the US embassy is also organising two workshops on documentary film making for local film makers and students during the festival, which ends March 5.
