Mumbai: Actor Akshay Kumar, who has featured in several patriotic films like Baby and Holiday, said that he doesn't want to stress on patriotism or the fact that there is a sudden rise of patriotic feelings in him.

"My father was in the Army. So, perhaps due to that I feel like doing such films. I'm fond of the genre. When such stories come in front of you, you feel good about them. But I don't want to stress on them. I don't want to enforce this fact that extreme patriotism is suddenly rising in me," said Akshay.

In Airlift, Akshay plays the role of an influential businessman, who has made many enemies in Kuwait. It gives a sneak peek of the time when Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990 and more than one lakh Indians were evacuated from a Kuwait under attack.

"Of course, there is patriotism. I'm proud to be an Indian. And sometimes, those films come like Baby, which was about RAW agents and there were numerous real elements in it. Also, my physique is such that I can portray the role of a police officer or an Army officer, because you find my structure like that. And so, it looks believable," added Akshay.

Akshay also doesn't think that he can play the role of a college student.

"I don't think I'll be able to carry that forward. I can't take it. I know my limits," he said.

Airlift will release on January 22.

"It's releasing before Republic Day. There is tremendous patriotism among our people and the concept of desh, tolerance and intolerance have become touchy subjects. And here I am, bringing a film which conveys - proud to be an Indian," said Akshay. (Also Read: Akshay Kumar Explains Why Airlift is Not a 'Commercial' Film)

"Patriotism should be in your hearts and doesn't require you to scream about it. But, if you see any malpractice, do report about it," added Akshay.
