LIVE: Election Results 2021 | Kerala

Counting of votes for the assembly elections in four states - Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and West Bengal - and Puducherry, a union territory, will be held today. Voting in these states had taken place in several phases between March 27 and April 29. Along with the other states, the Kerala Assembly election results are expected to be announced today. The Kerala Assembly elections 2021 were held in a single phase on April 6. Nearly 74 per cent of Kerala's over 2.67 crore electors voted despite the coronavirus surge. The Election Commission had announced several anti-Covid rules for the polls. To avoid crowding, voting hours were extended. A whopping 40,771 polling booths were created across Kerala's 140 constituencies. The main contest is between the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF). The BJP, which currently has a single MLA in the state assembly, hopes to get a toehold in the state. In 2016, the LDF had formed the government in Kerala after winning 91 seats in the assembly elections. The UDF had won 47 seats. For the last 40 years, no party or alliance has scored successive victories in Kerala. The exit polls, however, seem to show these elections bucking the trend. An aggregate of five exit polls showed the LDF is likely to win 85 of 140 seats - ahead of the half-way mark - and the Congress-led UDF is likely to win 53 seats. The BJP is set to make its presence felt with two seats. The election results can be tracked live on www.ndtv.com
