The National Testing Agency has issued a public notice regarding the UGC NET June 2026 answer key release. The announcement comes after several aspirants took to social media, demanding transparency and a timeline on the release date.

The eligibility for the UGC NET certificate will depend upon the performance of the candidate in both the sections of the NET exam in aggregate. However, the candidates qualifying exclusively for ‘Assistant Professor and admission to PhD’ or for ‘admission to PhD only’ will not be considered for the award of JRF. 

The NTA has clearly mentioned in the UGC NET 2026 notification that no re-evaluation or re-checking of the result will be done, and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained by the exam conducting body.

Following the NEET UG 2026 paper leak controversy, the National Testing Agency has floated a Rs 7.5 crore tender for round-the-clock security services at its headquarters at Minto Road, regional offices at Okhla, storage facilities and other notified locations.

According to the tender document, the move aims to safeguard NTA's personnel, visitors, assets, premises, records, confidential examination material, server rooms, strong rooms and other critical infrastructure.

In order to be considered, a candidate must have appeared in both papers and secured at least 40% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together for General (Unreserved) and General-EWS category; and at least 35% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together for all candidates belonging to the reserved categories.

The National Testing Agency has advised the UGC NET June 2026 candidates to keep an eye on the official website. The NTA is set to publish the answer key PDF this week, the agency announced in a social media post on X. 

The NTA is yet to publish the provisional answer key(s) and question paper attempted by the candidates for the UGC NET June 2026 exam. The objection window will be made open for applicants with the release of the answer key. Only paid challenges made during the stipulated time through the key challenge link will be considered. Challenges without justification/evidence/after the stipulated time period, and those filed on any other medium other than the officially prescribed link, will not be considered. The subject experts will examine all the challenges received, and then the final answer key will be displayed. The UGC NET June 2026 result will be compiled based on the UGC NET final answer key.

The NTA is set to release the answer key PDF and response sheet link this week.

The provisional answer keys for the UGC NET June 2026 examination will be published on the NTA'S official website this week, the testing agency announced.

According to the testing agency, the UGC NET candidates will be required to pay online an amount of Rs 200 per answer key challenged, as processing fee. 

The National Testing Agency has invited bids from printing agencies to handle the printing of confidential examination materials. Interested firms can submit their applications through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal by 7 pm on August 20, 2026.

The UGC NET June 2026 answer key PDF is expected to contain the following details: 

• Examination subject with code 
• Examination date and shift of the UGC NET exam
• Correction ID or Correct Response
• Question ID

Another candidate from Kolkata's Loreto College, stated that "the silence from the NTA is what is most frustrating. Even an official update would reassure candidates. Many of us have put career plans on hold because we don't know when the results will be announced."

An aspirant from Rajasthan questioned the delay, noting that several universities had already issued PhD notifications while the UGC NET answer keys are yet to be released. "It's been 1.5 months since the exams," the student posted while tagging the UGC Chairman.

The National Testing Agency has not issued the provisional answer key PDF along with the question paper and response sheets of the candidates for the UGC NET June 2026 exam till now. Around a month has passed since the exam concluded, leaving candidates anxious about score estimation and the next stage of the process.

A total of 7,52,007 candidates appeared for the UGC NET June session exam last year. Out of these, 5,269 candidates qualified for JRF and Assistant Professor; 54, 885 applicants qualified for Assistant Professor and Admission to PhD; and 1,28,179 qualified for PhD only. 

The number of candidates to be qualified for Assistant Professor eligibility will be equal to 6% of the candidates who appeared in the NET examination (in both the papers) on the basis of their Master’s degree or equivalent examination, the official document stated.

There is no official confirmation from the testing agency as of now regarding the UGC NET June 2026 answer key release date.

NDTV has reached out to the Ministry of Education for a timeline on UGC NET June 2026 answer key publication. The same will be updated when the ministry responds.

As per official notification, the NTA will provide an additional facility through the DigiLocker platform to enable candidates to download examination-related documents such as the NTA scorecard and other relevant records.

Here are the steps to challenge an answer key through the UGC NET 2026 objection link: 

• Visit the official NTA website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in
• Click on the link titled 'Challenge(s) regarding Answer Key'
• Log in using your credentials (application number and password)
• Click on 'View Question Paper' for marked responses 
• Now, click on the link indicating 'View/Challenge Answer Key' to view provisional keys and challenge the questions
• After selecting the desired option, scroll down, select 'Save Your Claims,' and move to the next screen
• Upload supporting documents and pay the required fee

According to official guidelines, no grievance with regard to answer key after the declaration of  the UGC NET 2026 result and the NTA score will be entertained.

Based on the official marking scheme, each question carries two marks. There is no negative marking for incorrect responses. Candidates must also note that no marks will be given for unanswered or unattempted questions.

The three National Testing Agency (NTA) subject experts breached an "obligation of secrecy" and circulated the question papers of the NEET UG exam, said the chargesheet filed by the CBI before a Delhi court.

According to the provisions invoked against them, each faces the prospect of life imprisonment and a Rs 1 crore fine. The agency has considered them "public servants" while invoking the charges against them as they were entrusted with "confidential" property or question papers.

On August 2, Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) wrote to the UGC and NTA regarding the delay in release of UGC-NET answer key.  "It has now been more than 30 days since the conclusion of the examination, yet no official update has been provided regarding the timeline for the release of the answer key or declaration of results," the official letter read.

Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi held a meeting today with senior officials, including the education secretary, to discuss matters related to the National Testing Agency (NTA). The meeting focused on measures to strengthen institutional mechanisms, streamline examination processes and make the agency more responsive to students, as per official information.

Candidates must note that only paid challenges made during the stipulated time through the objection window will be considered for review. Challenges without justification, or evidence, or after the stipulated time period and those filed on any other medium other than the prescribed link will not be considered.

The NTA will give an opportunity to the UGC NET 2026 applicants to challenge the provisional answer key in case of discrepancies found, along with valid justification and proof. Candidates will be required to pay an amount of Rs 200 per answer key challenged, as a non-refundable processing fee. As per the official information, the provisional answer keys are expected to be displayed for two to three days. 

Drawing a comparison with another national-level examination, a candidate wrote: "The NEET exam is conducted across India and abroad, with around 23 lakh candidates appearing, and its results were declared within 25 days. The UGC-NET is conducted only in India in computer-based mode for over seven lakh candidates, yet even after more than 40 days, there is no sign of the answer key. Why?"

Students and educators have expressed that the wait has turned into a daily refresh routine, with candidates asking NTA to either release the answer key or announce a date. In a social media post on X, Educator Ashwani Tyagi stated that "thousands of aspirants deserve transparency and a timeline."

The UGC NET 2026 exam will determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor, and admission to PhD.

UGC NET candidates will be able to download the provisional answer key PDF from the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

The UGC NET exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency twice a year (June and December sessions). Once the exam is conducted, the UGC NET provisional answer key is released, followed by the final answer key and the UGC NET result.

Shreshtha Sharma, a student from the Jawaharlal Nehru University's School of International Studies expressing her anxiety said, "the uncertainty is worse than the wait." "We don't know when the answer keys will be released, so it's impossible to estimate our scores or plan our next steps. A simple timeline would ease a lot of anxiety," she stated.

The NTA is yet to officially confirm the UGC NET June 2026 answer key release date.

Last year, for the June exam cycle the UGC NET provisional answer key was published on July 6. The exams were conducted between June 25 and 29. However, for the June 2026 exam cycle, the NTA has not given any official confirmation till now.

Over a month has passed since the exam concluded, leaving candidates anxious about score estimation and the next stage of the process.

The UGC NET June 2026 examinations were conducted at different locations throughout the country on June 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, and 30, 2026. The NTA also conducted a re-exam of the June 22 paper at the CT Group of Institutions exam centre, Jalandhar, on July 5, 2026. 

Responding to queries on the delay, an NTA source told NDTV: "The June examination covered 87 subjects, which is a huge exercise. We will release the results soon."

The NTA is expected to upload the UGC NET June 2026 answer key PDF, response sheet, and the attempted question paper soon on its official portal. More than a month has passed since the NET exam concluded, leaving candidates anxious about score estimation and PhD admission timeline.
