A 28-year-old woman was injured when her estranged husband allegedly attacked her with a blunt object in Outer Delhi after she refused to come back to him, police said today.
The incident was reported from Mongolpuri M Block on Saturday.
A senior police official said the woman, who had married five years ago and worked as a helper in Jaipur Golden Hospital, has been separated from her husband for the past three years due to a domestic dispute. The couple has a son who is staying with the woman.
"The woman was attacked allegedly by her husband who was on a motorcycle when she went out on Saturday. She suffered injuries caused by a blunt object," a senior police official said.
According to the official, the husband, who was drunk when he allegedly attacked the woman, was pressurising her to return to his home but she refused.
"Yesterday, he borrowed the motorcycle of his brother-in-law on the pretext of buying meat from the market. He then allegedly attacked his wife," the official said.
Police have not been able to record the statement of the victim, who is undergoing treatment.
"He (husband) was drunk. He is being called for questioning," the official said.
