Nine houses burgled in one night in south Delhi

New Delhi: Nine Delhi Development Authority (DDA) flats were burgled in a south Delhi locality early on Tuesday, police said.

The incident took place around 2 am in Pocket-2, C Block in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj.

The owners of these flats were not present when the burglaries took place. "One of the neighbours raised an alarm when he saw the lock of one of the flats broken. Other residents also collected there and one of them made a PCR call around 4 am," said Sonam, a neighbour.

According to the neighbours, a total of nine houses were burgled in the locality.

But police have denied the claim. Police said that only two houses were found burgled while an inquiry is on to ascertain if the culprits tried to burgle other houses.

"Prima-facie, it seems to be the handiwork of professionals. A case regarding the incident has been registered while the loss is yet to be ascertained," said a senior police official.
