IAF chopper makes precautionary landing near base in Allahabad

New Delhi: A mid-air technical problem forced an IAF helicopter to make a precautionary landing soon after take-off from Bamrauli air base near Allahabad this morning.

However, no one was injured in the incident.

"An Air Force Chetak helicopter on a routine sortie from Bamrauli air base had a precautionary landing due to technical defect near Bamrauli," said IAF spokesperson Group Captain Amit Mahajan, from Allahabad.

Five minutes after taking off on a routine training sortie at 8 AM, the pilot landed the chopper outside the airport after detecting the problem, he said.

"No injury was reported to the air crew or any one on ground. There are no damages to the aircraft as well as any property on the ground," Mahajan said.

A rescue team was rushed to the landing site and crew was brought back the air base. The chopper was flown back to the base after due repairs at 1100 hours.
