Visakhapatnam Steel Plant hails PSU's performance

Visakhapatnam: Chairman and Managing Director(CMD) of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) A P Choudhary today appealed to the employees to inculcate and evolve new work culture in expansion units so as to emerge as a trend setter in the Indian steel industry.

Commitment and discipline among employees are vital for achieving new work culture, he told a gathering of the employees at on the occasion of New Year in Ukkunagaram here.

Announcing that the VSP has emerged second with respect to annual turnover, he said hot metal production rose in 2011 whereas specific energy consumption was reduced thus adding to net profits.
Director (Operations) Umesh Chandra said best working practices be adopted and employees should give their best to facilitate huge expansion of the plant.

Director (Finance)  P Madhusudan said the performance of VSP was excellent during the past 9 months and net profit has risen by 41 per cent against the year-ago period. He said VSP has made 92 per cent of electronic payments which is the highest among any PSUs in the country.

According to Director (Commercial) T K Chand the PSU has already achieved an impressive turnover of over Rs 9900 crore during the past three quarters and a growth of 28 per cent over last year.
