Two students killed, 15 injured as bus falls into gorge

Hyderabad: Two engineering students were killed and 15 people injured when a bus they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge while negotiating a bend in Mahabubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, police said.

The incident occurred at around 7.20 am when the bus carrying the engineering students from a private college in Warangal district was on a tour of Srisailam Dam and other locations in Mahabubnagar and Kurnool district, they said.

The bus-driver lost control over the wheel when he was negotiating a bend near Egalpenta and hit an electric pole before falling into the deep gorge of about 30 meters, a police officer told PTI over phone.

The deceased were identified as K Shilpa and Prithaviraj, (both aged around 20). The duo were killed on the spot while condition of two other students was serious, he said.
