Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh: Three persons allegedly threw chilli powder into the eyes of a senior police officer as he was trying to prevent them from creating chaos in front of a place of worship in Madhya Pradesh's Tikamgarh on Wednesday during a Dussehra procession, police said.

"The incident occurred last night when three persons threw chilli powder into the eyes of Tikamgarh Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Nitish Bhargava as he tried to stop them from brandishing swords in front of a place of worship of a community during a Dussehra procession," said Tikamgarh Superintendent of Police or SP, Nimish Agrawal.

The SDOP was admitted to hospital and was discharged this afternoon.

"We have booked Pradeep Sindhi and two others for throwing chilli powder and injuring Bhargava and for trying to flare up communal tension," the SP said, adding that a hunt was on to nab the trio.
