Over 100 fall ill at Udaipur feast

Jaipur: In a food poisoning case, some 120 people fell ill after consuming prasad in Udaipur district on Saturday.

Tribals from Faleja Kalan and Dabok area distributed choorma as prasad at a Devi temple on Saturday evening.

Soon after consuming it, people complained of abdomen pain and started vomiting. According to health officials, 26 persons, including children and women, were referred to the Udaipur hospital and some others were admitted through a local advertisement at Mavali itself.

"All of them were discharged by Sunday evening," said Dr BL Mishra chief medical and health officer, Udaipur. Mishra added that about 120 people were admitted and the rest were checked on the spot.

Reports first came in at 9 pm on Saturday night with a team of doctors and paramedical staff who immediately rushed to the spot, a health official said. "Some 19 people are under observation at the village where a medical team," Mishra said.
