Finally, there is some hope for two families shattered by rash and negligent driving in Delhi. After NDTV highlighted their plight, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has promised all support.

"We will try to help in whatever way possible. I am glad you have taken this up as a campaign," Dikshit said.

Four-year-old Preeti and her two younger siblings, who now stay at a government care centre, wait in hope for an uncle who they've never seen.

A week ago, they lost their mother as the taxi she was in was hit by a Mercedes driven by Dinesh Tanwar - son of Kanwar Singh Tanwar - the richest candidate in Delhi's last elections.

Now, the care centre has sent out teams to look for the children's relatives, but so far no one has been found.

The man allegedly responsible for their plight, Dinesh, is out of the country enjoying a holiday with his family. His staff here claims he left India immediately after the accident.

Another victim, Binita, struggles to put together the next meal for the family. Her husband - an auto driver - was killed by a speeding car driven by an Armyman's wife.

Binita has five daughters, old in-laws and a handicapped brother-in-law's family to look after.

"I am uneducated, can't do a job. He was my only support. Now there is no one else to earn," she said.

As the victims find it difficult to cope with the tragedies, both the accused are out on bail. And if convicted, they may face up to two years in jail.
