Alwar shocked after brutal murders of monk, woman

Alwar: In two separate incidents in Kathumar village of Alwar district a monk and an elderly woman were brutally murdered by unknown assailants on Monday.

Police said that the monk identified as Santosh Das, reached at a temple at Kathumar village in Alwar district and had a spat with another monk late on Sunday night. On Monday morning when Das was sleeping another monk allegedly attacked him (Das) with an iron rod.

Asked if the accused was detained or attested so far, an investigating officer of the case, talking to DNA said, "Yes we have brought the accused for questioning. In the primary investigation it was found that both the monks, who are unknown to each other, met at the
temple in the village on Sunday noon."

The body of the deceased monk was kept at the government hospital's mortuary.

The devotees after coming of the temple on Monday morning spotted the body of the monk and informed the nearby police station. Later, senior police officers of the district including SP reached at the spot along with the FSL team to take stock of the situation.

In another case a 60-year-old woman was found murdered in the same locality of Alwar district. The woman, identified as Anara Devi had sustained grave injuries.

Informing about the incident police said that the deceased was probably attacked and murdered during wee hours on Monday. The Alwar police after noticing two murders have intimated the nearby districts and started a massive hunt to arrest the assailants.
