It's a fight between Lalu and Mamata

It's a fight between Lalu and Mamata
New Delhi: The Bengal express collided with the Bihar superfast on the floor of Parliament on Friday.

During the Railway Budget, Mamata Banerjee unleashed trains to Bengal that will pass Patna - but will not stop there. In the last five years Lalu Prasad Yadav gave just one train to Bengal and on Friday, Didi had her revenge.

But the bombshell was her promise of a white paper on last the five years of Lalu's railways turnaround story.

Mamata Banerjee had an unlikely ally in the CPM which also questioned the rapid drop in railway profits in two years.

The Railway Budget of 2008-09 had reported a cash surplus of around Rs. 20000 crore. This dropped to Rs. 13,500 crore in February and has further come down to Rs. 8,700 crore.

Lalu took on Mamata but sidestepped the white paper issue.

"She has a complex," he said.

Two UPA partners - Mamata Banerjee and Lalu Prasad Yadav - are on a collision course. The question being asked is - has the Congress or the PM given a green signal to her white paper challenge?
