Bangalore girl attempts suicide to escape stalker

Bangalore: A minor girl attempted suicide after a stalker assaulted her father, who had questioned the man, police said on Thursday.

A case has been registered against the stalker who had been haunting the girl for almost five months, and is now absconding.

The father of the minor alleged that the accused attacked him and had created humiliating scenes for the family several times.

When threatened with a police complaint, he claimed to have political background to save himself.

The complainant, Arif Khan, a businessman, has alleged that 20-year-old Abrar, alias Bond, of Neelasandra, has been humiliating and threatening the family in several ways.

"The accused made calls to my wife's phone and also sent obscene messages in my daughter's name. When I called back and enquired, he threatened to kill me and chop me into pieces as he has high political influence," he said.

"A group of 20 youths would circle around my office and residence, shouting my daughter's name and screaming at her. He threatened to kidnap and rape her in my presence if I fail to get her married to him. Hearing their calls and messages, my wife had a heart attack. Even my daughter attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison because of the humiliation," said Khan.

Khan was even attacked in the middle of the road. "I escaped from the attack with great difficulty. As the trouble is beyond our control, I have registered a police complaint," alleged Khan in the complaint.

Ashok Nagar police said they had registered a case and were on the look out for the accused.
