Toyota is gearing up for the launch of its much-anticipated Urban Cruiser EV in the Indian market. Ahead of its debut, the company has released a teaser offering a glimpse of the SUV's silhouette. With the official launch scheduled for tomorrow, i.e 20th January 2026, anticipation is building around what the Urban Cruiser EV will bring to Toyota's electric lineup in India.
Toyota Urba Cruiser EV: Design
Toyota India has shared a fresh teaser of the Urban Cruiser EV on its official Instagram page, offering new design details. The short clip highlights aero-efficient, diamond-cut alloy wheels followed by a glimpse of the SUV's right LED headlight, which integrates a single-strip LED DRL and projector setup. Built on the Maruti e-Vitara platform, the Urban Cruiser EV sports a redesigned front end with sleek LED units framed in black trim, echoing the premium Camry's styling. Muscular proportions, thick cladding, high haunches, aero-optimised alloy wheels, and a wraparound tail-light with a distinctive LED signature complete its bold stance.
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: Interior
While the interior details of the Urban Cruiser EV are still under wraps, it is expected that the cabin focuses on comfort and practicality with soft-touch surfaces and leatherette upholstery. It features a dual-screen setup combining a 10.25-inch driver display and a 10.1-inch infotainment unit. Convenience is enhanced through wireless charging, a powered driver's seat, and ventilated front seats, while a floating centre console adds useful storage, including space for charging cables. A fixed glass roof contributes to a more open feel inside, rounding off a design that blends technology with everyday usability.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: Dimensions
The upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will share its born-electric HEARTECT-e platform with the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. Dimensionally, the SUV is expected to measure 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
Toyota Urba Cruiser EV: Safety Features
The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is expected to come with a comprehensive safety package. Highlights include seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS technology. Additional systems such as TPMS, ESC, and ABS with EBD will also be part of the suite. With its Maruti sibling already securing a 5-star BNCAP rating, the Urban Cruiser EV is likely to build on a proven safety foundation while adding advanced driver-assistance features for enhanced protection.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: Battery And Powertrain
Toyota's electric vehicle (EV) is expected to offer the same battery pack options as the e-Vitara, with options of 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs. Maruti claims that the larger 61 kWh battery can provide a range of up to 543 km on a single charge, which is expected to be similar for Toyota's EV. Additionally, both EVs are expected to share front axle-mounted motor options, with power outputs of 144 hp and 174 hp.
