Toyota Gazoo Racing (GR) has taken the covers off its new flagship supercars, looking at the future of the brand. Specifically, the brand has unveiled the street-legal GR GT and GR GT3. However, the cars will be launched "around 2027." Designed for handling and performance, the machine is based on a lightweight chassis and houses a hybrid powertrain based on a twin-turbo V8 engine.
Once it comes out in the open, it will be welcomed by rivals like Mercedes-AMG GT, Porsche 911, and Aston Martin Vantage. To help it hold its ground, the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with mild-hybrid produces 650 hp of power and 850 Nm of peak torque. The power is transferred to the rear wheels using an 8-speed automatic gearbox with a wet clutch and a mechanical, limited-slip differential. With all of this, the car is expected to have a top speed of 320 kmph.

Meanwhile, the GT3 comes with the same twin-turbo V8, but it is tuned for GT3 racing without the assistance of a hybrid setup. Power and torque vary according to Balance of Performance rules, but the aim is a stable output for endurance and sprint formats.

The V8 engine is positioned low and behind the front axle for improved handling. An aluminium frame combined with carbon-fibre-reinforced panels ensures the weight is kept at a maximum of 1,750kg.
Double-wishbone suspension, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres are designed to provide exceptional braking and cornering performance. The hybrid motor also aids in delivering smooth torque during gear changes, and the exhaust has been calibrated to give the V8 a unique performance sound.
The GR GT's design prioritizes aerodynamics, performance, and cooling requirements. Large air intakes enhance airflow over the brakes and through the engine bay, finally exiting near the windshield and rear section. It boasts Toyota's first all-aluminium body structure, reinforced by carbon-fibre elements on the bonnet, roof, doors, and boot lid, alongside Brembo's carbon-ceramic brake discs.

Inside, the GR GT presents a compact two-seat interior with exceptional visibility and accessible controls. The dashboard is designed to be low, incorporating physical buttons on the center console to ensure ease of use during high-speed driving.
The seats resemble bucket-style models with carbon frames, crafted to securely support occupants during sharp turns while still being practical for daily driving. The steering wheel features controls for various driving modes and stability settings, while the digital display behind it effectively conveys crucial information.

The cabin upholds a functionality-first approach similar to the exterior. It integrates modern technology, such as a central touchscreen and sizable gearshift paddles, but refrains from including unnecessary luxury features. There is no Toyota logo present within, highlighting GR's identity as a separate performance brand.
