California-based restoration specialist Singer has unveiled its latest project - the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet Reimagined. This marks the company's first deep dive into open-top air-cooled 911s, applying its meticulous restoration philosophy to the Type 964 Cabriolet. The process begins with an owner-supplied donor car stripped to bare metal, reinforced for rigidity, and then rebuilt with Singer's signature engineering precision. The aim is clear: deliver a naturally aspirated, manual 911 that blends visceral open-roof driving with uncompromising mechanical integrity. Singer plans to build only 75 examples of this Cabriolet, each undergoing rigorous evaluation at proving grounds such as Millbrook and the Nurburgring before delivery. This ensures every car meets the company's demanding standards for performance and durability.

The silhouette pays homage to the wide-body Carrera Cabriolets of the 1980s, but the execution is thoroughly modern. Carbon-fibre panels replace steel, creating flared arches and a purposeful stance. Cooling intakes sit ahead of the rear wheels, while a deep front spoiler manages airflow. The car rides on 18-inch centre-lock wheels styled to look period-correct yet equipped with modern tyres and braking systems.

Singer has rethought the convertible roof, introducing a lightweight Z-pattern folding mechanism that maintains a clean profile whether raised or lowered. To counter the loss of structural pillars, the chassis is stiffened and paired with electronically controlled, four-way adjustable dampers. Practicality is enhanced by a nose-lift system, while performance is supported by carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.

Inside, the cabin retains Porsche's classic five-dial layout but elevates it with bespoke materials. Owners can customise leather and trim finishes, while functional highlights include lightweight sports or track seats and a raised gear shifter with exposed linkage. Modern conveniences such as navigation and phone connectivity are integrated discreetly to avoid visual clutter.

The heart of the Cabriolet is a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six, producing 414 bhp. It combines air-cooled cylinders with water-cooled heads, revs beyond 8,000 rpm, and pairs with a six-speed manual gearbox. A titanium exhaust system completes the package, delivering both performance and sound.
