Nissan has been present in India since 1965 ever since it provided the license to manufacture the Jonga in India, which was first used by the Indian Army and then was allowed to go on sale for civilians as well. The first will be a 7-seater B-segment MPV, a model that will be similar in positioning to the Renault Triber, a mass-market people mover. It is expected to hit the roads in early 2026. Next will be a C-segment SUV, that is likely to be based on the new-gen Renault Duster, which is also expected to go on sale in India. The new C-SUV from Nissan will be launched in the middle of 2026 and there will be a 7-seater version of the same, going on sale in early 2027. There are plans to further add to the C-SUV line-up with a fully electric model. Nissan did confirm that there are no plans for diesel models in its future India line-up. This is because the cost of diesels in the B and C segment cars will be too much for customers to bear, particularly with BS-7 emission norms coming in.

The company aims to sell over 100,000 units in India and export 100,000 units from India by FY2027.
