The Government of India is planning to introduce a new toll policy in India. According to the sources, under the policy, FASTags and cameras will be installed at every toll booth, and tolls will be directly collected from the car owner's bank account. This policy is designed to provide relief to people traveling on expressways and national highways across the nation.

The cameras installed at the toll booths will log the number plate of the car, and the toll will be deducted from the FASTag-linked banks. Additionally, the sources said that the toll would be charged as per the number of kilometers traveled. If the user's bank has a low balance, then penalties may be imposed. Also, according to the current policy, users need to pay a toll for at least 60 kilometers. As the new policy is going to be kilometer-based, it is expected to be more economical for the commuters.
