
The Indian two-wheeler market experienced strong retail performance in May 2025, with total sales reaching 16,52,637 units. This marks a notable increase compared to 15,40,077 units sold in May 2024, reflecting positive year-over-year (YoY) growth and strong consumer demand nationwide. While traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) manufacturers continued to lead the market, electric two-wheeler brands displayed mixed results, with some recording gains and others experiencing declines. Below is a detailed overview of how different two-wheeler manufacturers performed.
Hero MotoCorp maintained its position as the market leader, selling 4,99,036 units in May 2025, an increase from 4,46,404 units in May 2024. The brand captured a market share of 30.20 percent, up from 28.99 percent the previous year, indicating an impressive YoY growth.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India closely followed, selling 3,93,383 units, slightly up from 3,92,030 units in May 2024. Honda currently holds a market share of 23.80 percent, down from 25.46 percent last year.
TVS Motor Company also showcased significant growth, selling 3,09,285 units this May, a considerable rise from 2,63,977 units last year. This led to a market share of 18.71 percent, compared to 17.14 percent in the previous year.
In May 2025, the Bajaj Auto Group sold 1,84,831 units, an increase from 1,75,535 units sold in May 2024. Suzuki Motorcycle India reported sales of 87,519 units, slightly up from the 82,292 units sold the previous year. However, its market share dipped slightly from 5.34 percent to 5.30 percent.
Royal Enfield shows notable sales, selling 76,608 units, which is a significant increase from 64,577 units sold last year. This represents a strong growth in market share rising from 4.19 percent to 4.64 percent.
India Yamaha Motor saw a decline, selling 50,368 units in May 2025 compared to 54,679 units in May 2024. This resulted in a reduced market share of 3.05 percent, down from 3.55 percent.
Piaggio Vehicles experienced a decline in sales, dropping from 3,087 units last year to 2,355 units in May 2025, which represents a market share decrease of 0.14 percent from 0.20 percent in May 2024. Similarly, Classic Legends reported a sales reduction, falling from 2,506 units to 1,965 units, marking a decline in market share from 0.16 percent to 0.12 percent in May 2025.
Among electric vehicle manufacturers, Ola Electric experienced a sharp decline in sales, dropping from 37,389 units last year to 18,501 units in May 2025. This marks a significant 50.50 percent YoY decrease, along with a reduction in market share from 2.43 percent to 1.12 percent.
Ather Energy demonstrated strong growth, with sales more than doubling from 6,154 units in May 2024 to 12,856 units this May. This reflects a remarkable increase in its market share to 0.78 percent from 0.40 percent.
Greaves Electric Mobility experienced a substantial increase in market share to 0.25 percent from 0.13 percent in the year prior, selling 4,178 units compared to 1,957 units.
Smaller manufacturers, including electric vehicle (EV) makers, collectively increased their sales to 11,732 units in May 2025, up from 9,489 units in the same month last year. This reflects a significant growth in market share of 0.71 percent, up from 0.62 percent a year prior.
