Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to expand its compact SUV lineup for the global market. Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the first official interior images of the upcoming next-gen GLB 7-seater SUV, ahead of its global debut on December 8. The brand claims a major leap in cabin design and features over the outgoing model. In India, the first-gen GLB was discontinued earlier this April, following a sales run of just over two years.

The images confirm that the upcoming GLB will offer the MBUX Superscreen, a sleek, edge-to-edge panel integrating three displays, including one for the co-driver. The cabin layout features central air vents positioned low on the console and a floating floor console between the seats. Seating includes a split-folding bench in the second row and space for two in the third. A standout feature is the panoramic glass roof, now standard across the GLB lineup. Buyers can also opt for an electrochromic version that switches between opaque and transparent, along with an illuminated variant showcasing embossed Mercedes-Benz logos.
The main distinction between the Mercedes CLA and GLB is at the rear. The GLB offers an optional third row with two individual seats, making it more versatile. Seven-seat versions come with a sliding second row as standard, while it's optional on five-seaters. When not in use, the third-row seats can be folded flat to create extra boot space.

Under the hood, the upcoming Mercedes GLB is likely to borrow its powertrain options from the new CLA range. This includes a mix of hybrid and all-electric setups, with top-end variants expected to deliver up to 349 hp for performance-focused buyers. The hybrid models may feature a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the electric version could offer an 85 kWh battery with the choice of single- or dual-motor configurations.
