Mahindra's popular XUV 3XO compact SUV is reportedly set for a CNG variant launch soon, according to industry reports. This move taps into India's booming demand for affordable green fuel options amid rising CNG adoption. Although the Indian manufacturer will be late to join in the party, considering multiple manufacturers already offer CNG powertrains in the segment.
Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: Powertrain
The XUV 3XO currently runs on a 1.2-litre MPFi turbo-petrol engine, which produces 111 hp and 200 Nm, with the option of a 1.2-litre TGDi petrol engine, which produces 128 hp of power and 230 Nm of peak torque. There is also an option of a 1.5-litre diesel engine, with manual or automatic transmissions.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: Launch
The upcoming CNG kit will pair with the base 111 hp MPFi petrol unit, mirroring setups in rivals like Tata Nexon iCNG. As per Autocar India's report, the debut is possible by late 2026 or early 2027, building on the model's strong sales. Mahindra's first passenger CNG SUV will challenge Tata Nexon CNG dominance and Maruti Brezza, especially as CNG sales hit record highs.

Presently, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is sold at a starting price of Rs 7.54 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 14.88 lakh (ex-showroom). When the CNG version is launched, it will likely be priced between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 12 lakh in the country.

Buyers get the XUV 3XO's tech arsenal: dual 10.25-inch screens, Level-2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, six airbags, and 360-degree camera. The CNG version should retain most frills, minus minor tweaks for the tank, keeping its premium edge in the sub-4m segment. With BS6-compliant norms met, this addition bolsters Mahindra's green portfolio ahead of stricter emissions rules.
