Kia has announced its global mid- to long-term strategy at the 2026 Kia CEO Investor Day, outlining a strong focus on India and other key emerging markets. For India, the Korean carmaker has revealed its annual sales targets and shared its plans for upcoming models through 2030.

Global Target:

Kia aims to achieve annual global sales of 4.13 million units by 2030, targeting a market share of 4.5 per cent. The carmaker also plans to expand its electric vehicle portfolio to 14 models and target one million annual sales from electrified vehicles.

Investment Plans:

Kia plans to invest a total of KRW 49 trillion (South Korean won) over the next five years (2026-2030), with KRW 21 trillion earmarked for future businesses. Announced at the 2026 Kia CEO Investor Day in Seoul, the strategy focuses on expanding Kia's mobility ecosystem, with key areas including purpose-built vehicles (PBVs), autonomous driving and robotics, aimed at better connecting people and infrastructure.

Kia's New Products For The Global Market:

Electric vehicles remain a key focus for Kia. The planned 14-model EV lineup will include two passenger cars, nine SUVs and three PBVs (Platform Beyond Vehicle), along with the introduction of a next-generation EV platform.

Kia's Sales Goal For India:

By 2030, Kia aims to achieve annual passenger vehicle sales of 4.1 lakh units in India, targeting a market share of 7.6 per cent. The Indian PV market ended FY2025-26 at a record level, with retail sales crossing 47 lakh units for the first time. Kia India closed the fiscal year with a 5.94 per cent market share, selling 2.89 lakh units.

In the high-volume compact SUV segment, the largest volume category in emerging markets, Kia will focus on expanding sales of the Seltos and Sonet. The company is targeting annual sales of over 200,000 units for each model by 2030. Supply flexibility across India and other emerging markets will be strengthened through increased local production and expanded CKD operations.

Kia's India Product Offensive:

Kia's India strategy includes expanding its lineup to 10 models, offering eight electrified vehicles. Kia revealed Syros EV, Sorento HEV and Carnival HEV are among the electrified vehicles lined up for India until 2030. The brand will also expand its dealer network to 800 locations.

Syros EV has been caught testing on Indian roads repeatedly, and its launch is expected in the first half of FY27. It is likely to share the battery and motor options with the Kia Carens Clavis EV.

The Sorento is a three-row, full-size SUV offered in several global markets with turbo-petrol and hybrid powertrains. It is expected to be positioned above the Seltos in Kia's India lineup, with the Sorento Hybrid likely priced around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Kia Carnival, currently sold in India with a diesel engine, is also available globally in a hybrid version, including in markets such as the US. The hybrid Carnival is expected to be introduced in India before 2030, with prices likely around Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it against the Toyota Vellfire.
